Our founder, Ichiji Yamanaka, began making glass beads in Hiroshima City, which had been devastated by the atomic bomb. He believed that a time was approaching when everyone would transcend gender and nationality to get along with each other. Through trial and error, he manufactured glass beads to brightly illuminate the community, the nation and the world, based on the idea of striving to create a peaceful, vibrant and happy society. Since then, this expectation has been passed on here at TOHO BEADS, like a form of DNA by which we remain connected.
